Review Heathen Harvest

A mysterious, unknown package, surrounded in Blue Oceanic reverie. Wonderful start to the day. Who or What is Feu Follet, however? All I have to go by is a cdr in a cardboard slip with no info, just artwork, and a link. Glee!

Feu Follet is Tobias Fischer, founder of the Einzeleinheit label, and member of the obscure Electronic projects "Suneaters" and "Aalfang mit Pferdekopf"

With two lengthy tracks, and a cover that looks like the Sun watching over the Artic Glaciers as they slip into a chasm, preparing to flood the Earth, I don't for one minute expect to hear something pleasing. It is, (to my pleasure) a Dark Ambient album, an Icy, Vitriolic mass of thought and creation, sounding like a Hydraulic Drill having intercourse with a mile think sheet of ice, dozens of miles away. Total silence, no Birds, no Life. Just Miles, and Miles of thick Ice, Freezing Air, and the Orange Sun watching you, but unable to provide any warmth.

Noticeable moments of the album are the way the initial track "Toi Et Le Son" develops. It builds up in momentum and feel, and generates a warmth of comfort, countering and working alongside the feelings of Icy Banishment wonderfully. When it suddenly gets louder, more vicious, and more Electronic, the mood of the listener picks up exceptionally too. Albums that can control mood are few and far between. Or is that, Feu and far between?

First big mistake. Turned the volume up rather significantly to embrace the second track "Larme D'Heike", only to find it's much fucking louder. Almost Power Electronics. "Feu Follet" translates into English as "The Fire Within". I think that describes this mysterious and Intimate recording better than I ever can.

The Fiery Sun, Imprisoned in a cage above, watches down on its beloved Earth, as she freezes and chokes in the cold Embers of Humanity. Suddenly a burning desire writhes through it, like the final Orgasm of a condemned man, and she breaks free, and the cycle begins exactly where it begun...

Bliss.
