Einzeleinheit 010 Jan-M Iversen: "Wiederkehrende Welten"
In autumn of 2005, there was suddenly a package on the desk of einzeleinheit-founder Tobias Fischer, sent from Hafrsfjord, Norwary. It contained a single white disc with seven untitled pieces by a certain Jan-M Iversen who had included a friendly letter, informing Tobias that the music had been composed especially for einzeleinheit. Fischer couldn’t believe what he heard: “This came so close to my original vision of what I wanted to do with the label that it was hard to imagine that we had actually never spoken before”, he confesses. The two immediately agreed on publishing the disc with einzeleinheit and then... the whole process took ages to complete. Tobias: “I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I wanted to get everything right with this release: The whole look, the packaging and of course the distribution... it even took us quite a while to come up with an appropriate title for the disc!” But now it is finally here, “Wiederkehrende Welten” (“Returning Worlds”) sounds every inch as unique as it did back in 2005, with Iversen deliberately using the entire repertoire of his composing skills in a quiet mode: Microsounds, tender drones, scraping noise, bizarrely groovy samples and alien ambiances. These remarkably concise pieces flow in and out of each other to create a surreal and emotive landscape – and one of the best examples of “interface music” to date.
