Einzeleinheit 009 Naarmann & Neiteler: "Naarland"

Just like with “Wiederkehrende Welten” by Jan-M Iversen, the story of Naarland is a long one, its release being delayed because the original master seemed to have disappeared. With “Sister Thelesitis”, Naarmann & Neiteler had polarised the critics: While some saw it as the “beginning of a new debate about "aesthetic values” in minimal electronics and industrial or as a “contribution to the emancipation of dissonance”, the raw ambient textures involving flutes, choral voices and spoken word were simply too outlandish for others. “Even though we still love the debut, it was clear to us from the very start that we wanted to take the concept to a different stage”, Robert Neiteler says. “Naarland” was recorded in various session over the years 2004 and 2005, this time with the explicit desire to build longer tracks with multiple sceneries, seguing in- and out of each other to create a feeling of spaceousness. “We basically wanted to do more of everything on this one”, Tobias Fischer (who hides underneath the naarmann moniker) says: “More melody, more harmony, but also more darkness and more power in the harsher segments.” The result is a five-part tour de force through the lands of electronica, drum n bass and dark industrial and sees the two epic opening track merge into the intense percussion fusillades of “Part 4” and the menacing ten-minute finale of "Part 5". “When we found the master after over a year of searching, we still thought it was brilliant”, Tobias says. The chances are good that many others will as well this time.
